In Sabarimala, clashes broke out as a reports of a woman entering the temple spread.

The clashes were so severed that a video journalist got injured.

The reports spread that a woman within the menstrual age was attempting to enter the temple.

Hundreds of protesters gathered at Sannidhanam or the inner courtyard of the hilltop shrine and some targeted the media.

The woman is said to be one Lalitha, a devotee from Thrissur who had come to the temple with her son.

Police had to confirm later that the woman is over 50 and was thus allowed to visit the shrine.

It need be mentioned that women within menstrual age group are not allowed to enter Sabarimala temple but the Supreme Court has passed a verdict that women of all ages are allowed.

This comes as Sabarimala shrine opened yesterday for the second time in three weeks for a two-day special puja amid unprecedented security over fear of protests by those opposing the Supreme Court’s order allowing women of all age groups into the temple.

The temple town has virtually turned into a fortress with hundreds of police personnel, including armed commandos and women cops above 50, deployed in large numbers.</>
